About Almeta Lennon
Hi there. I'm an Australian artist who is just loving putting paint/pastel to canvas.
I began my 'creative career' back in 1980 when I fell in love with painting on porcelain. I ended up teaching that for eight years before finally selling my kiln and looking to other things. Fabric art came next and in typical '80s style, I slapped paint on t-shirts and sold them to all and sundry - with a particular emphasis towards the late '80s on Australian native fauna and flora due to our bicentenary year in 1988.
My next passion - how fickle am I - became water colours and I enjoyed producing flowers and Australian bush landscapes on paper for the next few years. Then the dearth! We moved from country New South Wales to Canberra and full time work, and part-time university, and more stressed lifestyle with a full household of our own kids, together with others who lived with us for varying amounts of time....our house was never empty, nor void of love, and laughter.....but no artwork.
Next move was up to the Queensland Sunshine Coast to care for my aged mum-in-law. This afforded me the opportunity to then begin painting again - this time, acrylics and pastels on canvas...........and that's where I'm at now.
I love colour and texture and am learning to 'free up' as I read more books on technique and interact with other artists. I'm trying new styles all the time but don't believe yet that I have developed my very own style....look and see for yourself.
I am a shareholder exhibitor in Gallery 10 on the Sunshine Coast and have exhibited in several local exhibitions.
I hope you find my work enjoyable - I would love to hear your comments - I'm always ready to learn!!!!
